Watercolor painting of Anthony J. Thompson Jr. in bright gold and deep teal greens

Anthony J. Thompson Jr.

This piece was created on Procreate and released to Instagram for its initial publication.

"Anthony Thompson Jr. was shot and killed by a police officer in his own high school bathroom. We are still waiting, a week later, for footage from the body cams to be released. Why? Because a 17-year-old boy was said to be the aggressor with a weapon, but days later, the news of the officer SHOOTING HIMSELF challenged the trope of blaming the brown child first. Anthony deserves justice. His family deserves justice. The police need to be held accountable for the slaughter of children. His life mattered. His future mattered."

Handwritten, cursive signature says "pea flower tea" in lowercase letters. The flower is a small sketch of a bloom, instead of the word for "flower".
