Watercolor of Ahmaud Arbery in greens, warm browns, and teals.

Ahmaud Arbery

This piece was created on Procreate and released to Instagram for its initial publication.

"Ahmaud Arbery’s murderers were convicted for their hate crimes today. I have struggled to paint Ahmaud due to how chilling his murder case has been, but his life is worth more than how he has been treated. Ahmaud was running and minding his own business when three white men drove him down and shot him for running in their neighborhood while being black. His death is a tragedy. Ahmaud deserved better. Ahmaud’s family deserve better. #blacklivesmatter#SayHisName."

More information about Ahmaud Arbery's death can be found here.

Handwritten, cursive signature says "pea flower tea" in lowercase letters. The flower is a small sketch of a bloom, instead of the word for "flower".
