“Daunte Wright was only 20 years old when he was murdered by a white police officer. He was shot in the chest during a routine traffic stop after the officer threatened to taser him. The cop instead drew her Glock and, still saying she would use a taser on him, fired the gun. There is absolutely no possible excuse to justify confusing these two weapons. Daunte died in his car after calling his mother to say he had been pulled over. His girlfriend was in the vehicle when Daunte was murdered. The murder took place less than 10 miles away from the ongoing trial of the George Floyd Trial. Another black man, murdered at the hands of the police, literally as another black family fights for justice. If the police wanted to reform, they’d have done it already.
Daunte’s life mattered. His family matters. His girlfriend, and the trauma she will have to work through witnessing the murder of her boyfriend matters.”
